Unplugged Performance has unveiled the world’s first Tesla Model S Plaid police patrol vehicle, customized for high-speed law enforcement and introduced at the Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) show. Known as one of the largest automotive trade events, SEMA showcases new products and innovations in Las Vegas each year.
- Power and Speed: The Model S Plaid boasts over 1,000 horsepower and a 0–60 mph time of just 1.99 seconds, making it one of the fastest cars in the world.
- Police-Ready Modifications: The patrol vehicle includes custom-installed forward- and rear-facing lights, side skirt lighting, high-frequency sirens, and a push bumper, all compliant with California’s Title 13 standards for highway patrol vehicles.
- Performance Enhancements: Unplugged Performance has equipped the car with upgraded brakes and lightweight forged wheels, designed for enhanced handling in high-speed situations.
Ben Schaffer, CEO of Unplugged Performance:
“The UP.FIT Plaid Pursuit embodies everything we value in electric police vehicles. From outstanding acceleration and range to reduced maintenance and fuel costs, this platform equips law enforcement with the latest tools to enhance their mission while saving taxpayers’ money and promoting a cleaner future.”
Next Steps: The Model S Plaid patrol car will join the LA Sheriff’s Motorsports community outreach program, marking a shift toward high-performance electric vehicles in public service. The Plaid Pursuit is on display this week at SEMA’s FutureTech Studio in Las Vegas.
