Solar-powered ebike charging station launched

Beam Global just launched the BeamBike, an off-grid solar-powered charging station for electric bikes. The platform is designed to provide secure charging for up to 12 electric bikes.

  • A 4.4 kW solar panel will cover the parking area, providing a potentially safe place for locking the ebikes.
  • The solar panels charge an internal battery that then powers up 12 other electrical outlets.
  • Battery options include 20, 30, and 40 kWh, allowing for stored energy.

Its flagship product is the EV Arc—a portable, solar-powered EV charging station that operates independently of the grid. It can be delivered by truck and set up on-site without the need for trenching or laying cables.

Beam is targeting its product at high-traffic areas. These include places like malls, transit hubs, business parks, recreational spots, and community centers where mobility and sustainable transportation are in demand.

“E-bike adoption continues to grow in every major market. Asia, the Americas and Europe have seen steady growth across consumer, business and government applications,” said Desmond Wheatley, CEO of Beam Global.

Beam hasn’t disclosed pricing for the BeamBike yet, but the company recently launched a One-Pay Lease program for its EV Arc, which could potentially be applied to the new e-bike charging solution. Headquartered in San Diego, Beam operates in several countries, but details on when and where the BeamBike will be deployed remain under wraps.
